Two quotes for "forehead Botox" can differ a lot and still be fair, or look similar and hide very different doses. This guide explains how Botox is priced, how many units each area uses, and what a written quote must show before you can compare it with another.
There is no fixed national rate. Botox cost in India is set by each clinic, which is why the same treatment can carry very different prices in two cities, or even on the same street. The good news is that a few simple checks let you compare any two quotes fairly:
- Ask which brand will be used.
- Ask how many units each area needs, and the total.
- Ask whether the two-week review and any top-up are included.
- Ask who will inject, by name.
- Divide the final amount by the total units to get the true price per unit.
Is Botox priced per unit or per area, and which is fairer?
Clinics in India use both methods. Per-unit pricing is more transparent, because you can see exactly how much product you are paying for. Per-area pricing is simpler, but only fair if the clinic tells you how many units the area price includes.
A unit is the standard measure of botulinum toxin, the medicine in Botox that relaxes a muscle. The dose for each area is counted in units.
- Per unit: you pay a rate per unit multiplied by the units used. A stronger muscle costs more because it needs more units.
- Per area: you pay a fixed price for an area such as frown lines, whatever the dose. Good for simple budgeting.
- The catch: a low per-area price may include fewer units, which can wear off sooner or need a top-up.

Why does Botox cost in Mumbai differ from Surat?
The product is the same, but the cost of running a clinic is not. Rent, staff salaries and demand are higher in large metros, and those costs are built into the per-unit rate.
- Rent: clinic space in central Mumbai costs far more than in Surat.
- Demand: busy metro clinics can charge more because appointments fill regardless.
- Brand and doctor: a senior plastic surgeon or dermatologist usually charges more than a junior injector.
- Package style: some metro clinics sell memberships or bundles that change the per-visit price.
A higher price does not mean a better result, and a lower price does not mean poor quality. What matters is the brand, the units and who injects.
Why is Botox cheaper in Surat than Mumbai?

How many units does each common area use?

Brand matters because units are not interchangeable. The Botox label states that its units are not equivalent to other botulinum toxin products, so 50 units of one brand is not the same dose as 50 units of another.

How do I compare Botox prices between clinics?
Divide the final amount by the total units of the same brand. That gives a true price per unit you can compare. Then check whether a review top-up is included and who injects, since a free review can save a second paid visit.
When is a very low price a warning sign?
A price far below other clinics is a warning sign when the brand, unit count or injector is not disclosed. Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine, and the price is low for a reason somewhere.
- No brand named: you cannot check what is being injected.
- No unit count: the dose may be smaller than needed.
- Over-diluted product: fewer active units per area, so results fade faster.
- Not given by a doctor: placement errors can cause a drooping brow or eyelid.
